As an environmentally conscious company GCS are highly supportive of like-minded organisations. The purpose of this page is twofold

In order to help offset the cost that can be incurred in making the extra time and effort to be more considerate to the environment, GCS would like to offer a "Green Discount" to your company which maybe used the next time you recruit staff using GCS. We will be happy to either reimburse 5% of the recruitment fee or, should you prefer, we will donate this sum to an environmental charity of your choice.
Whilst GCS has already instigated a number of energy saving strategies, we are always keen to learn more and wondered whether you might be able to make any suggestions regarding environmentally friendly actions that have been successful for your company. We have appended a list of some our current initiatives for your information and would very much appreciate any feedback that you are able to offer. This section of our website is focused on "keeping it green" and we would welcome any quotes on the subject. Our hope is to create a forum with ongoing dialogue between green-minded companies that may encourage further development of green initiatives.
Current examples of green IT innovations for your business can include.
- Use the power management facility on your laptop or computer to save energy
- Connect to terminal services so that you are only using the energy of one powerful server in an extended network.
- Use smaller hard drives such as solid state to conserve energy.
- Use a more energy efficient video card (or no video card at all).
- Turn your laptop off one hour before the end of the day and let the charge go down.
- Recycle and dispose of your old equipment (including batteries and mobile phones) through proper channels so these can be re-used safely.
By adopting these ideas you will be able to reduce your carbon footprint and save money through your efforts and by working with companies that also follow your lead you will ensure that this ideology is also maintained by your supply chain.
